Cut The Rope HD iPad App Review

Cut the Rope HD Lite is a simple but very fun game optimized for the iPad. The objective is clean and very straightforward.  Avoid obstacles and pass a piece of candy over to a mysterious creature named Om Nom (fitting, isn’t it?). Though feeding strange creatures is not the best message to send to children playing this game, it’s still a fun and intuitive game on the iPad.

As mentioned, the goal is to avoid obstacles and feed Om Nom. The candy is always attached to one or more strings. Swiping gestures on the screen cut the rope and free the candy to fall downwards. In more complicated levels, pendulum swings are required to hurl the candy at your new creature friend.  To add replay value for those addicted to completing all objectives, 3 stars are located through each level to collect. Collecting them all allows you to be able to increase score and measure yourself with the Cut the Rope HD achievement board.

The Lite version offers 18 stages to try. The first few are mainly tutorial stages to help the player get accustomed to the many ways the candy can be passed off to the creature. Levels become more difficult and obstacles are eventually introduced into the game play. Spikes, floating bubbles and even enemies get in the way of the path of the candy. The only problem I had with these obstacles was that it didn’t make the levels too much more difficult. I found myself completing all levels in a relatively short amount of time.

Hopefully for those that enjoy the game and download the full version, which can be purchased for 1.99 in the iTunes store, the additional levels provide more difficulty.
