Catalogue iPad App

The Catalogue App by TheFind.com is like one big paperless solution for all those Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel and Lands End print catalogs you get in your mailbox. The Catalogue is a collective of digital and interactive scans from almost every US Retailer with a  print catalog. Within the app, users can browse through nationwide chains like Urban Apparel, Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, or hone in on niche catalogs like Chefs or Wine Magazine.

Catalogue for iPad is much more than a simple collection of retail catalogues. At first glance, each catalogue appears to be a simple scan of it’s print counterpart. The value of this iPad app is in it’s interactivity. Beyond browsing, each product comes to life as you can go directly to the retailers website by tapping the product from it’s catalog page. See a nice coffee table in the Crate & Barrel Spring Catalog? Tap the image and you get pricing information, manufactuer description, as well as a link to the online store in case you want to buy right away. Simply put, kiss mail-order forms goodbye!

Additionally, TheFind.com has incorporated the shopping website’s search functionality into the app. If you just want to shop Amazon Windowshop style, tap the top-right corner for the search bar and browse all retailers in TheFind’s network to browse clothes, shoes, electronics and other consumer goodies across the web in a gridded image display.

The Catalogue app is unfortunately dependent on an active internet connection for search and to view new catalogs. However, the app does a decent job of caching pre-loaded catalogs in case you already had something open from the last time you opened the app. In summary, if you heart print catalogs, then you’ll heart Catalogue by TheFind. If not, I don’t think Catalogue will convert you, but take a peak in case you’re curious.
