Noterize iPad App

Update – December 2011: The App makers behind Nuance has recently bought out Noterize and have consolidated the apps. You will now find Noterize under ‘Nuance’ in the App Store.

Stumbling upon the Noterize iPad App has been one of my best discoveries yet. With so much functionality – it really can replace my need for note taking and word processing on laptop. Taking notes with this app is amazing and I’d recommend everyone to give it a try.

Noterize adds tons of functions aside from being a note taking application. It is its own platform to create, edit, upload and share notes that you’ve created. A user can simply type out notes and bullet points on a variety of canvases like a standard notepad. Entering text is simple and just like any other app. There are also built in options to help users using a stylus pen for iPad so that a palm doesn’t affect note taking.

Once you’ve entered in your notes, you’ll find that you can many things to optimize your notes. A user can choose to highlight any line of text throughout the document with various colors. There’s also the option to draw free-form lines and curves on the canvas itself – which is great when needing to jot down diagrams and freehand notes.  If taking notes by hand has become too 1990s for you, there’s an option to also use voice and add audio notes to a document. Students who are trying to record lectures while drawing can utilize this function and not miss a single lecture.

After you’ve finished taking your notes down, you’ll want to save and share the document. Noterize includes almost every thinkable method of sharing a document. You’re able to sync the document to your Google Docs, e-mail yourself, post on Box.net or Dropbox, or save in the iPad documents folder as a PDF.

Not only can you create content, but you can also load books or PDFs from Google scholar into the app and make edits using the tools. This is great if you want to annotate a PDF from work or shared by a friend on the go.

There’s so much available in Noterize that makes it one of the most necessary iPad Apps all iPad owners should take it for a test.
