HootSuite iPad App
HootSuite, the popular social media management software amongst business users originally released a native iPad app to compliment it’s desktop suite in late 2010. Since the original release, HootSuite for iPad has expanded to incorporate feeds and support for Foursquare, LinkedIn and Facebook Pages on top of the superb Twitter support the service originally launched to support.
Via the each social network’s API, HootSuite syncs all your feeds into a side-scrolling column based dashboard with links to all your social media accounts on a fixed left rail. Additionally, HootSuite allows users to pull in your geo location, post across social networks at the same time and monitor all of the social interactions customers have with brands and businesses over the web.
HootSuite’s strength is with business users. While a similar social media aggregator, TweetDeck, is best for personal users HootSuite goes beyond personal use by allowing you to sync social analytics packages and collaboration with other team members. With the latest changes to Facebook Pages, businesses and professional community managers will appreciate the ability to act on behalf of a Facebook Page (and not individual user account) as well as schedule your tweets and updates ahead of time.
If you already use HootSuite on your desktop, you can load up your account upon downloading by logging into HootSuite app. The app is free to download and as a user, you’re only held to whatever restrictions Twitter, Facebook and the like set on third-party tools. It’s worth noting that with the basic (free) HootSuite account you may only link up to 5 social media accounts to the iPad. If you have more or want to go beyond the initial limits, a $5.99/month Pro account will allow you to link analytics packages and raise your limits on the initial account.
HootSuite is a great app for business users who want to stay connected to their social media users on-the-go. If you don’t have a website, company or business you’re representing – TweetDeck’s personal features may be a better fit for you.
